Genealogy In Bloom

Join us on the 20th of April

Jeanette Sheliga is our Speaker

Spend a day with other genealogists as we listen to Jeanette Sheliga talk about County Courthouse Records in NYS, NYS Censuses - You Won't Believe What's Hiding There, Sanborn Fire Maps for Genealogy, and Getting Acquainted with the Genealogical Proof Standard. Learn about a number of available records you may not know exist, what the Sanborn Maps can tell you about your ancestor's life, and how using a research plan could help you break through that stubborn brick wall. Even if your ancestors have no New York connection, you could learn tips and techniques to apply to your research in other states.

This event is being held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 460 Kreag Road, Pittsford, from 8:30 am to 4 pm. It will also be available via Zoom. Pre-registration is required.

Two sessions will be presented in the morning and two in the afternoon. A space for lunch will be provided if you bring your own or you may want to patronize the area restaurants.

Attending in-person and staying for lunch gives you the opportunity to converse with other genealogists and perhaps find a clue to unlock your research. A book sale and raffle will also take place on-site.

Jeanette Sheliga of Jeanette’s Genealogy lives in Lockport, NY and has been researching her family tree since 2002 and lecturing since 2011.
